Rotary Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve global understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs. Held exclusively charitable contributions of Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world.
The Foundation has created the 1917th year by the sixth president of RI, Arca C. Klump, a donation fund of Rotary to make a good world. Has grown from an initial payment of 26.5 dollars to more than 73 million donated in 2000-01. Its turbulent history is in fact the story of Rotarians who have learned the value of service to humanity.
Foundation's humanitarian programs fund projects around the world Rotary clubs and districts in improving the quality of life, providing health care, clean water, food, education, and other essential needs primarily in developing countries. One of the key humanitarian programs is PolioPlus, which aims at eradication of polio virus worldwide. Through its educational programs, the Foundation funded some 1,200 pupils and students a year to study abroad. Scholarships are also awarded to university teachers to work in developing countries and for exchanges of business and professional leaders. Former members of one of the Foundation's programs have the opportunity to continue their relationship with Rotary as Foundation Alumni.
